SKU: AMD68_GP Categories: , , Tag:

The family Herpesviridae, which also contains Epstein-Barr virus, human herpes virus 6, varicella zoster virus, and herpes simplex virus types 1 and 2, includes cytomegalovirus (CMV). The most frequent cause of congenital infections has been shown to be CMV. CMV can spread by a number of routes, including blood transfusions and organ transplants, and is present in a number of bodily fluids, including saliva, urine, breast milk, cervical secretions, blood, and semen. Infected tissue typically has larger cells with intranuclear and occasionally cytoplasmic inclusions, often up to 40 m in diameter. During the early stages of CMV illness, leukocytes from BALF and peripheral blood were found to contain the CMV p65 antigen
