Anti-HLA-DP/-DR
HLA-DP and HLA-DR are both part of the human major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class II category. These molecules play critical roles in the immune system by presenting antigens to CD4+ helper T cells, initiating immune responses. HLA-DP is composed of two subunits, DPα and DPβ, while HLA-DR consists of DRα and DRβ subunits. They are primarily expressed on antigen-presenting cells such as B lymphocytes, monocytes, macrophages, and dendritic cells. Genetic variations in HLA-DP and HLA-DR can influence an individual’s susceptibility to various diseases and autoimmune conditions.
