Anti-PMS2
PMS2 (Postmeiotic Segregation Increased 2) is a DNA repair protein essential for mismatch repair. It forms a heterodimer with MLH1, engaging with MSH2 bound to mismatched DNA bases. Mutations or deficiencies in the PMS2 gene are associated with microsatellite instability, contributing to conditions like hereditary nonpolyposis colorectal cancer and endometrial cancer. In diagnosing microsatellite instability (MSI), it is advisable to use a panel that comprises PMS2, MLH1, MSH2, and MSH6. Furthermore, evaluating the expression levels of the PMS2 protein can be a valuable screening tool to identify Lynch syndrome following a colorectal cancer diagnosis.
